A couple weeks ago my sweet friend Heather of http://jeweledelegance.blogspot.com gave a prompt to post a yummy recipe on your blog. I'm a bit behind in the game but I finally have one for you! For all of you who have never had this classic, here is a recipe you must have in your recipe collection:
TEXAS SHEET CAKE!!
Looks like brownies, but it's not! One of my favorites that my grandma used to make!
In a saucepan combine:
2 sticks butter, 1 cup water and 4 tbsp. cocoa, and bring to a boil then remove from heat.
In a bowl combine: 2 cups flour, 2 cups sugar, 1 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt.
Add butter mixture to flour mixture all at once and blend well with a whisk.
In another small bowl whisk together 2 eggs and 1/2 cup sour cream, then blend into the mix.
Pour batter into an ungreased cookie sheet measuring 18x12x1 and bake 20 minutes on 350 degrees.
While it's baking make the icing:
In a saucepan combine: 1 stick butter, 6 tbsp. milk, 4 tbsp. cocoa and bring to a boil- then stir in 1 pound powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla.
When cake is still warm, spread icing evenly over cake.
This is easy and yummy...a perfect cocoa taste! Thanks for hosting Heather!

Texas Sheet Cake is my ALL TIME FAVORITE dessert! (except we usually make it with nuts in the frosting). I love having it as my birthday cake with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. YUM!

Ooh Natalea this looks so yummy...and it's lo-cal too, right? haha. Will have to give this a try when it's not 95 degrees here, am sure the icing would melt all over the floor today! :)

The cake looks good. I know you like to make mini books from old game boards...I've got three scrabble boards that I don't need...if you'd like them. Let me know.

Oh YES! My grandmother used to make this for us when we would come to visit in the summer and she'd put pecans in it from her pecan tree. Thanks for bringing back a wonderful memory!!!

This looks so great! I'm going to try and make it tonight after the girls go to bed. (If I try while they are up it will be eaten before it even gets into the oven!) Happy Fourth of July.
